In aid of Sport Relief 2010
The CTFC Community Scheme and Fitness First Chatham, present
THE MAIDSTONE ROAD MILE
Saturday 20th March from 1:00pm
This coming Saturday (March 20th) at 1:00pm at the Maidstone Road Sports Ground, Chatham, approximately 50 members of the CHATHAM TOWN FC JUNIOR SECTION (boys and girls aged 8-16) as well as some parents too will take part in the MAIDSTONE ROAD MILE IN AID OF SPORT RELIEF 2010.
All the competitors will be required to complete THREE laps of the outside of the Maidstone Road Sports Ground before finishing the final part of their journey on the half way line of the main pitch.
The event will be started by PAUL NIHILL MBE, who now lives in Medway, who won a silver medal at the 1964 Tokyo Olympics for the 50km walk and is the grandfather of current Chatham Town striker ROB DENNESS. As well as starting the event, Paul will also be presenting commemorative souvenirs to all those who complete the course during the half time interval of the Ryman One South game between Chatham Town and Fleet Town – kick off 3:00pm.
As well as that, we are hoping to have a local band playing before the game and will have the customary collection bucket doing the rounds as is the case on days like this during the afternoon…
Note to editors - we have been requested by the national organisers not to call our the event a “Sport Relief Mile” as it could cause confusion with the events being organised by Sainsburys.
There will of course be photo opportunities available throughout the afternoon.
We would like to thank you for your time, and hope that if not able to attend yourselves, you will be able to provide us with the coverage an event like this deserves.
Many Thanks.
